Simulation Training
Last year the National Fallen Fire Fighter Association and United States Fire Administration reported over 100 fire fighter fatalities during operations. Of these, over 10% were lost while engaged in hands on training operations.
While hands on and classroom training is essential will always be necessary, now there is a new way to train fire fighters safely – inside the station or at home. Simulation training is rapidly being adopted by universities, the military, health care and the airline industry. Fire fighters can also benefit from this technology.
“[Simulations] teach skills that employers want: analytical thinking, team building, multitasking and problem-solving under duress. [Simulations] can be used to practice practical skills and important skills that are rarely used, to train for high-performance situations in a low-consequence-for-failure environment…”
~ The Federation of American Scientists
“Scientists call [simulations] the next great discovery, a way to captivate students so much they will spend hours learning on their own.”
