Terrorist Preparedness: Critical Incident Management

This is the first in a series of training videos developed to assist the first responders of Montgomery County prepare for critical incidents. This program will illustrate the Montgomery County Incident Management System, explaining how the Montgomery County system supports the National Incident Management System, as prescribed by Presidential Directive. Their example can be adapted and applied in most regions.

American Heat: Incident and Disaster Preparation

This course identifies problems, concerns, issues, and lessons learned from recent hurricane and other disasters and identifies new protocols, preparedness procedures, training methods, and planning that can be utilized by fire departments and response teams facing similar disasters.

PULSE: Pediatric RAD/Asthma

The prevalence of asthma and associated morbidity has been on the rise for the past 20-30 years. Children are affected disproportionately, and up to 12% of children in the United States are affected. This presentation discusses emergency treatment approaches, environmental issues, and differential diagnosis of pediatric asthma.

American Heat: Bus Rescue

Each year in the United States, approximately 9,500 injuries occur to school bus occupants. Approximately 50 commercial bus riders are injured. The vast majority of the time, buses travel without accident; however, when a bus-related accident does occur, local responders may be confronted with a major multi-casualty incident for which they are not prepared.

PULSE: Child Abuse Identification

The identification of child abuse is everyone's responsibility, but first responders have special legal responsibilities when it comes to identifying and reporting suspected abuse. This course equips first responders with information to be able to identify the behavioral and physical signs and symptoms of an abusive situation. It provides information on the EMT's responsibilities as a mandated reporter, and it provides clear guidelines on how to properly report suspected abuse.

Honoring the Fallen Firefighter

When a fire department experiences a line-of-duty death and/or injury, personnel should be trained to provide the best possible support to the firefighter's family. Fire
departments should have administrative and operational procedures in place to handle the immediate and long-term needs of the bereaved.
