If you are a FETN online user, you probably noticed the short
survey we placed on our premier learning management system PRIMEnet.
Well, over the past year, we've received a great deal of responses
from you. I'd like to share some of the feedback you gave us,
and what we've done with your input. For those of you who are
not familiar with PRIMEnet, here's a brief overview.
What is PRIMEnet and/or PRIMEnet
with Desktop Video on Demand (DVOD) and how can it help you?
PRIMEnet is FETN's premier online learning management
system that allows access to award winning, life saving FETN
training content delivered directly to the users' desktop computer.
As a learning management system, PRIMEnet enables training
officers to assign and track user participationas well as create custom reports based on their needs.
Departments who use PRIMEnet with Desktop Video on Demand
(DVOD) enjoy the flexibility of the service as training can
be accessed by individual users 24/7 or the training can be
used in the classroom to supplement hands-on and instructor
lead training now that FETN training is fully portable and can
be accessed anywhere and anytime. PRIMEnet also maintains
users' training transcripts and allows training administrators
to print certificates of completion for all courses their users
complete with a passing score.
If you are not currently a PRIMEnet customer, but would
like to know more about the functionality of PRIMEnet and lean
more about our latest e-learning option, PRIMEnet with Desktop
Video On Demand, please contact us by calling 1.800.245.2443 or
visit us at www.FETN.com
Here at FETN, we not only value you as a customer, but also take
your comments very seriously. So far, the response from PRIMEnet
users has been positive. Please take a few minutes to read some
of them ..
Our survey says -- Nine out of ten users
of PRIMEnet consider this is a tool that serves their
training needs efficiently.
Your comments/inputs/suggestions and what we've
done about them
Those nice comments .bring smiles
to our faces
I had an issue a couple of weeks ago and submitted an
evaluation expressing my concerns. To my surprise I was
contacted within minutes and felt that I was in good hands.
Kudos to you.
Worked on several outlines, all great!
Your course material is relevant & enlightening. However,
I feel we need more material that is relevant to our specific
department.
Very useful.
Very well planned training site.
Good information presented well
I can see the improvement with dvd training
We read every comment and we refer your questions and comments
to the proper department for consideration.
On Test Questions - We hear you, loud and
clear
Would like to review the questions I missed on the test.
When you take a test and miss a question, you get a grade
but you are not told of the question that you missed. I
would like to get this information right after taking the
test.
Be able to review test answers to see the correct answer
if one is wrong.
Have questions that relate more to what is in the video.
That is what we use to train on and when we go to test half
of the information on the test is irrelevant to what we
just spent an hour out of our very busy day watching.
I wish that after the test it would show you the correct
answer to the entire test that way if you missed one you
would know the correct answer.
In January 2007, we released an update to PRIMEnet, our learning
management system that allows flexible testing and feedback options.
This new Test Presentation System (TPS) is being used by not only
FETN, but our other training verticals at TWLK Group which promotes
a consistent user experience and a uniformed testing functionality.
In some cases, the updated TPS did not change they way a users
test is graded and the results provided. Users should notice a
difference in cosmetics from the previous tests in PRIMEnet. Once
a user completes a test, (regardless of whether it was completed
in either the old or new format) users have the ability to
review the test questions they answered incorrectly. The correct
responses to questions answered incorrectly by a user are only
supplied when a user successfully passes an exam, therefore promoting
the integrity of the service.
For FETN to provide a true learning environment for their users
and to remain in compliance with educational regulations, it is
recommended that in addition to viewing the training program,
the user also reviews the written course materials.
One can not just watch the videos alone
-
Some of the answers have been different than found in
video or material.
Have all test questions be covered in the written material?
Most of the information for the test was not included
in the outline. In the past, all of the test questions could
be found in the outline.
If you are going to put a question on the test put it
in the reading material. That way when you read along you
can find the answer. More times then not you have to end
up guessing because you don't put the answer in the reading
text. Also when we mark the answer you have in the text
you still say it's wrong what gives? I feel like I'm wasting
my time...
We received feedback from our customers and we took action. When
this issue was reported back to us by our customers, we immediately
scheduled a meeting with the Accreditation Managers, Program Managers,
Subject Matter Experts and Content Service Team at TWLK to discuss
what we can change to maintain compliance.
For approximately four months, FETN content experts incorporated
the written lesson plans when comprising the POST test evaluations.
We received calls and comments like the ones above and discovered
that our philosophy needed to change to meet the needs of our
customers. Therefore, all the subject matter used in formulating
the test questions are pulled directly from the training program.
Users can also read the corresponding courseware and find the
same information.
On EMS courses - what we've done to make
it better
Make it more inline with Street level EMS, not doctors
levels.
More EMS continuing education. Remove the CE that has
expired.
Some Ems go to far into Hospital protocols EMS should
be more for road medics.
More Skills instruction for EMS. I might not have found
them but refreshers for intubation, EKG Recognition (12-lead),
EtCO2 wave form Recognition etc?
FETN is working towards producing PULSE programs that are geared
to both BLS and ALS and eliminate using content from our healthcare
verticals and applying them to EMS training. We elect to keep
expired courses in our online library because the subject matter
can still be used as a valuable training tool. Departments can
continue to utilize these programs as long as they have a certified
instructor validate the content. It is FETN who cannot submit
these courses on behalf of the subscribing agency to CECBEMS since
they have reached their three year shelf life.
More courses on additional subjectswe've
forwarded your suggestions to our programming department for
consideration
Would like to see something on high rise
business evacuation and fire tactics. Thank you.
More Officer related training courses.
more specialty team training. k9 swat
etc
would like to see material on fire protection
and life safety systems
more visuals while learning
Balance between hands-on and FETN training
- We realize that we don't replace what you are doing, we improve
it
The department relies too much on online
training.
This is a great training tool. It will
never take the place of hands-on training, but it is a good
supplement to anyone in the fire/ EMS industry.
We need to follow up with practical (hands
on) on our end. Not your problem, but some dislike FETN
because it is the only training sometimes, instead of a
total package.
