Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST)
At the recent conference in Virginia Beach, the IADLEST Board
unanimously approved a plan submitted by LETN Vice President,
Lonny Wilder to carry the LETN daily Newscast on the IADLEST POSTnet
Home Page.
Tennessee has announced that they will participate in the National
Decertification Index. With TN, the Index will list decertified
officers from 26 states. By year's end, access to the Index will
be extended to PDs upon request to their POST agency. More info

The National Institute of Justice (NIC) has earmarked funds for
the establishment and operation of the nation's first network
of police academies. The National Law Enforcement Academy Resource
Network will link over 700 police academies and provide training
resource and information services. Operations should commence
early in 2008.
IADLEST has entered into a multi-year umbrella agreement with
NHTSA to develop law enforcement training in the areas of motorcycle
law enforcement, elder drivers and pursuit operations. Opportunities
for instructor training will be announced in the near future.
IADLEST has proposed establishment of a national, model standard
for the management of law enforcement training and certification
information. The new standard will enable uniform, national police
credentialing.
The IADLEST Sourcebook provides comparative training and selection
standards of POST agencies throughout the US.
The International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement
Standards and Training (IADLEST) is an international organization
of training managers and executives dedicated to the improvement
of public safety personnel. The Association serves as the national
forum of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) agencies,
boards and commissions as well as statewide training academies
throughout the United States.
The mission of IADLEST is to research, develop and share information,
ideas and innovations that assist states in establishing effective
and defensible standards for employment and training of peace
officers.
