Welcome to PRIMEnet Online Training System. We are confident that you will find this new training format to be an excellent resource. This Students Guide contains the information you need in order to use PRIMEnet Online Training System effectively.
This guide is intended for any user who needs to use PRIMEnet to participate in online and/or instructor-led courses. It is assumed that anyone who uses PRIMEnet has a good working knowledge of the following:
Using the conventions and common tools associated with Windows-based applications and computers
Browsing the internet
Sending/receiving e-mail
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT, or 2000
Internet browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 (higher recommended)
Windows Media Player version 6.4 (for Win95 or NT), or version 7.1 (for Win98, 2000, or Windows ME)
Internet connection of at least 33.6 Kbps
Processor: Pentium 166 or compatible (Pentium II 233 or higher recommended)
RAM: 32 MB (128 MB or higher recommended)
Monitor: VGA
Screen resolution: 800 x 600 (1024 x 768 recommended)
Color settings: 16 bit High Color (24 bit True Color recommended)
Note: If your system does not meet the minimum system requirements, please contact your supervisor or company systems support.

Before you log on to the Online Training System, you must be assigned a User ID and
password for the system. If you do not have a User ID and password for the system,
contact your immediate supervisor.
To log on:
Step 1: Open a desired web browser, and log on to
http://www.pwpl.com/primenet/health/
or use the desktop Icon provided by your facility.
Step 2: Enter your User ID and password in the respective fields and click the Please click here to enter button. Please note: the password field is case-sensitive.

After you log on, the home page screen will appear. On it, the Course Catalog is open. This catalog lists all courses available to you.
IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you always log on using your own User ID and password. Otherwise, your courses will not be credited to the proper learning plan.
The home page includes a set of buttons you can use to take advantage of various Online Training System features and functions. The buttons that appear on the left of the page, as well as the menu commands you can select, depend on which role or roles are assigned to your logon. A user assigned the Student role will use the Navigation Bar to perform the following tasks:

For security purposes, it is a good idea to change your logon password the first time you log in. To change your password:
Step 1: Click the Personal Info button on the Navigation Bar. Your personal information will appear as seen below:

Step 2: In the Password field, type your new password. The password must be at least 2 alphanumeric characters. This field is case-sensitive.
Step 3: In the Verify Password field, retype your new password, then click Save.
NOTE: Do not forget to document your new password in a safe place and use it the next time you log on.
To enroll in a course:
Step 1: Select the course you wish to take from the Course Catalog and verify that you meet the prerequisites.
Step 2: Click on the Enroll button on the Course Details page. To enter the course, click launch.

Once you launch, you will see its Course Overview outlining all sections.
From this screen, you may view the course outline, enter the course or posttest, view the course syllabus or return to the course catalog.

Select Start course.

The course will begin the slide presentation. You may use the control arrows on the bottom of the screen to fast forward or reverse through the topics. The Main Menu link at the top right of the screen, will let you see an outline of the course, or provide help with the navigation of the course.
NOTE: In order to view Primedia courses, you must have Macromedia Flash player installed on your PC. A free download of this program is available on the course overview screen.
Once you are finished with the course content, click Course Overview at the top of the screen to get to the Post Test.
Click on Post Test to begin taking the test. The system will then ask you if you have taken the course and reviewed the syllabus. By clicking OK, you are agreeing to the statement and will continue to the test description and instructions.

Click Continue
to begin the questions.
Most questions are multiple choice. Once you make your selection, you will see the answer you selected. If you are satisfied with your answer, press Next Question. If not, you may change your answer. You may skip a question to revisit at any time during the test. The navigation bars at the top of each page will allow you to jump to the Next or Previous question, see the list of skipped questions or return to the Main Menu.

You may revisit any question to change your answer at any time before you mark the test complete.
Once you are satisfied with all your answers, return to the Main Menu of your test.
At the top of the screen, select the Course Complete button.

You may press the Report button to see your score.
After you have marked the course complete, you are encouraged to participate in a course survey. Once the survey is complete, select the link to return to the Course Catalog. This will post your scores to your learning plan. You can review your scores by viewing the My learning plan page.
These tests have an auto book-marking feature. If a student leaves the test without marking it complete, the system will remember his answers and will take him to the last question attempted when he reenters the test.
Important:
You must return to the course catalog to have your score posted to your
learning plan.
USING ADDITIONAL FEATURES/ FUNCTIONS
OF THE ONLINE TRAINING SYSTEM Section 3
To view your learning plan:
Click the My learning plan button on the Navigation Bar.

The summary page shows a student all learning activities he or she has in progress. You may launch a course from this page.
The Plan Details page will display all learning activities associated with your assigned learning plans.
The Certifications page will display all learning activities tied to certifications or expiration dates (as defined by your training administrator).
The Transcript page will display all completed learning activities, along with any scores and credit associated with them.
To search for a course:
Step 1: Click the Search button on the Navigation Bar. A search page appears on which you may search by code (product / course number), type, title, certification, or description.

Step 2: Fill in one or more of the boxes with the appropriate information and click Search. Partial names may be used to locate all titles that include the specified information (i.e. entering Identity in the Title field for Identity Theft).
To change your personal information:
Step 1: Click the Personal Info button of the Navigation Bar. The following screen appears. Edit any information as needed.

Step 2: Click the Save button after making all necessary changes.
Note: Job Category and Manager options are preset by the User Administrator.
Button Bar: The five buttons on the left side of the course screens include: Course Instructions, Table of Contents, Start Course, Comprehension Test, and Exit Course.
Case-sensitive: Recognizes only symbols as they had been entered originally. Example: your e-mail is student@xxxx.com. If you type StudenT@xxxx.com, the system will not recognize it.
Course Catalog: A listing of all of the Online Training System courses available.
Group: A collection of Students assigned to a specific Manager. Groups are simply a mechanism to organize sets of Students. Students cannot belong to more than one group.
Navigation Bar: The bar found on the left side of the home page (Course Catalog) with several button options, specific to your role.
Quiz: Throughout the course, there are quizzes covering the material you just learned. These are to ensure you understand the material and to aid in your comprehension. These quizzes are not recorded as a grade and are for your information only.
Roles: Your status in relation to the Online Training System. Possible roles are Student, Manager, Instructor, User Administrator, and Training Administrator.
User: Anyone who uses the Online Training System to perform a task. Users can be assigned such roles as Student, Manager, Instructor, User Administrator, and Training
Administrator.
learning plan: A listing of courses a student is enrolled in and/or has completed.
Learning Activity: The generic term for any catalog listing.
